Skroponeri (Skorponeri)

A stunning location with its panoramic views over the secluded bay of Skroponeri to the Gulf of Evia. It is located 25km north of the capital city of the second largest Greek island, Halkida which will shortly benefit from a new motorway standard road from the national high road, and an upgraded rail link to Athens including a new one to Athens International Airport.

The natural beauty of this unspoilt area with the mountains surrounding the bay has to be seen to be appreciated. Its proximity to Athens (90 km) and Greece's largest ski resort of Mount Parnassos near the renowned Delphi is now proving attractive to luxury developers. 5 star hotels with leisure facilities, including retail, tavernas and a substantial marina are proposed in the locality.

Facilities

There are a number of tavernas along the coast to Loukisia and Drosia, where the long sandy beach of Alikes is to be found. Local shops are present at Loukisia and Drosia with the main amenities located at Halkida.

How to get there

Follow northwards the national high road from Athens to Lamia until either

1. after the 2nd toll station turning right following the signs to Halkida (Chalkida)

After about 13km turn right before the large suspension bridge and cement works following the signs to Drosia and the old bridge at Halkida.

Then take signs to Drosia and Skroponeri for a distance of about 25km passing through the countryside and following the beautiful coast for over half the route

or

2. after the 2nd toll leave the national high road at the third exit to Mouriki village and Thiva. Follow signs to Skroponeri via Mouriki village. A scenic route through rural countryside with mountain and lake views.
